The UNIVERSITY for HUMAN EXCELLENCE: A PENTAGON for EMANCIPATION
4 June 2018 Sanathana Vani
Nelson Mandela, the great South African anti-apartheid revolutionary once exclaimed, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
Human rights activist Malcolm X gave a similar thought, “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare it for today”.
Education is the powerful means to unveil the individual consciousness thus leading to the Excellence in Cosmic Collective Consciousness. This, in turn, builds a paradise that constitutes the Golden Circle of Thinking. Our planet Earth is fortunate to witness the rise of innumerable Educationists, Visionaries and multiple domain universities converging to promote education as a means in the process of cosmic transformation. These humble efforts witnessed considerable improvements in each attempt by eliminating the vices and promoting the virtues.
From the United States’ prestigious institution of higher learning, Harvard to Mahamana’s largest residential University of Asia, Banaras Hindu University the constant dissemination of Utopian wisdom continued in making the planet a better one. The tandem of industrious fervour of Jamshed Tata coupled with and the Vedantic impulse of Swami Vivekananda, both moving in tandem, resulted in establishing a research institute, the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. This institute combined the scientific and technological achievements of the West with asceticism and humanism from India.
To establish the communion of the world with India, Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore established the Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan, West Bengal. There are such centres in every corner to vouchsafe the moral fabric of the planet. These centres envisaged the thought process of various leaders thus inspiring the masses in the constructive progression.
With the rise in the number of universities, the exponential rise of global problems too started. The problems were so mammoth and vast that it conjured an illusionary spell which Centres of learning, Universities and Global Leader Forum failed to resolve. The fundamental concept of education disappeared; tolerance and universal acceptance was in dearth and the extremist philosophy started to delude millennials. Terrorism began to penetrate not only in the cross borders but also in the minds of so called educated people. Instead of promoting elevation, education started to endorse agitation and chaos. Education for examination, examination for employment and employment for enjoyment became the pedagogy of modern day thinking. Educational Centres transformed to money minting companies. Self-centred nepotism spread across and the fractured futurism expanded.
South Korean Diplomat and the former Secretary General of United Nations, Ban Ki Moon once expressed, “Saving our planet, lifting people out of poverty, advancing economic growth… these are one and the same fight. We must connect the dots between climate change, water scarcity, energy shortages, global health, food security and women’s empowerment. Solution to one problem must be solutions for all”. So, what’s the solution which Ban Ki-moon is referring to? Is there any such place in the planet trying to figure out the answer to the modern society’s myriad problems? What would be the thought process and who will be the crusader of this educational revolution? Can the real essence of education be churned out by creating leaders with strong characters?
The need of the 21st century is to establish one such educational institution that would help resolve these issues.
And so…June 3 has witnessed just that! It is a red-letter day, to be scripted in golden letters on the world’s educational map. In a remote hamlet of Karnataka, Navanihala Village, Kamalapur Taluk, Gulbarga district, there will kick-start a paradigm shift in the inner aspects of Human Consciousness. Focus will move from informative education to transformative education, from education to Educare. This will bring out the latent and lofty traits inherent in every human. It shall make the dream of Swami Vivekananda into a reality by promoting his main thought “Education is the manifestation of the perfection present already in man”. This is the central philosophy of the university. A unique bottom-up approach of transforming individuals through the three principles of Daiva Preethi Love for God, Papa Bheeti Fear of Sin and Sangha Neeti Morality in Society shall be encouraged to solve the problems that plague today’s society. Mother Earth shall witness the majestic establishment of SRI SATHYA SAI UNIVERSITY FOR HUMAN EXCELLENCE.
The university aims at promoting education from
Degree up to the Post-Doctoral level in the field of Art,
Science, Engineering and Technology, and
Management; besides also providing courses in
Literature, Languages, Humanities, Law, Music, Life,
Yoga, Education, Philosophy, Physical and Allied
Science Courses. Equal or more priority would also be given to innovation, research, dissemination of
Knowledge, and consultancy services.
A boy or girl who enters a Medical University or a Medical College comes out as a doctor or a surgeon. A student who joins an Engineering University or an institute of technology comes out as an engineer or as an architect. Similar in the case of colleges of law, school of veterinary sciences etc. But what is different with a child who enters the Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence? The child will step out God, as an embodiment of Excellence. The University will foster and cultivate a spirit of self-inquiry, self-reliance, and self-sacrifice in an environment of self-discipline. It will train teachers, students and dedicated workers who will be committed to serving their fellow beings through furthering the cause of values based education, without the barriers of caste, creed, race, religion, gender or geography and monetary status. The hallmark of this Paradise on earth will be imparting “Integral Values Based Education” from boarding to lodging absolutely Free of Cost.
All requirements that a student would need in a college atmosphere, would be provided with, completely free, thereby nullifying the monetary burden on the student and his parents!
Winston Churchill addressing the House of Commons once said, “We shape our buildings and thereafter our buildings shape us”. How true!
The Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence is just that! It is a building in the shape of the Pentagon. The building is an iconic structure with a floor area of 75,000 square feet spanning three floors. Inside this pentagon, is a smaller pentagon with sides spanning to forty-eight feet each, forming the heart of the structure which serves as the prayer hall. There are idols of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Saraswati and Lord Hanuman to adorn the front part of the building, symbolising Intelligence (head), Wisdom (heart) and Strength (hands) respectively. Together, they represent the soul of Integral Education, which aims to mould a perfect human personality as a harmonious blend of a brilliant head, loving heart, and competent hands.
The University aims to build a Divine Army. Just like we have the army of soldiers to guard the nation, this Divine Army would protect and preserve the cultural and moral heritage of the nation. This Divine Army consisting of missionaries charged with the spark of the divine would be the panacea to all the problems and maladies that are staring the country today. Each task undertaken and every department would function with utmost honesty, purity and sanctity eradicating corruption. The country would feel safe and secure, thus enriching new life into the villages, towns, and cities devoid of selfishness. The nation can be revived with the power of sacrifice; a value strongly practised and possessed by our great leaders!
With the power of sacrifice, there comes strength, inspiration, enthusiasm, enlightenment and knowledge. “The Idealistic Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence” will silhouette the beginning of the Golden Era, an age full of Love, Joy and Divinity etched in our hearts and history for ever.
Truly, Education is for life; not for a living.
Come and be a part of this Divine Army! Do not miss the opportunity of a lifetime!
