Sri Rudram – Namakam and Chamakam

The power of the Sri Rudra Prasnah is indescribable; its glory ineffable. This hymn is part of the Krishna Yajur Veda and is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is among the holy trinity. The Namakam and Chamakam together make this Veda an all-inclusive one from which the other Vedas, sastras (scriptures), ithihasas (ancient legends) and puranas emanated. Daily recitation of this hymn is scheduled here because it is known to purify us, cleansing our inner perception and sweeping away what needs to go so that the glorious overwhelming light of the Supreme shines forth.
